Life Before Land (1994/2004)

"...working in his Brixton back room with the minimal street-tech resources of a million other wired bedrooms, Tom Green sucks forms out of air, giving audio shape to the feeling of a sitting on a curve of sand, synchronising to tidal, primal sound loops..." DAVID TOOP, BEYOND press release 7/94

"...a fine example of the new eclecticism...this ambitious project succeeds through its ability to sound natural and supremely relaxed but challenging at the same time" ON MAGAZINE 9/94

"...talking of "ambient", there's some music in that genre that is so well made and easy on the ear that there's not much more to say. The excellent Life Before Land by Another Fine Day, is a case in point. " JOHN L WATERS, in THE GUARDIAN 10/7/05

"...this is music that I can't ever imagine not being part of my life."
PETE LAWRENCE/
THE BIG CHILL 8/04

No 3 in THE INDEPENDENT'S "Best Ambient Albums" chart 7/05

Music for MRI Scanners (2008)

This music was composed by Tom Green(aka Another Fine Day) in 2001, for ambient playback in the ancillary areas of a new MRI Scanner in The Royal Infirmary, Bristol.

The three twenty minute pieces are designed to induce feelings of calm and security, and are perfect for anyone looking for an ambient accompaniment to yoga, meditation, massage, and similar practices, or simply relaxation.

Complex melodies and rhythms, likely to draw the attention, are absent, replaced by slowly evolving textures and processed fragments of sound from piano, kalimba, and the natural world, gently enhancing the audio environment.

Chasing Tornados
(2004)

Composer and sonic experimentalist Tom Green (aka another fine day) returns to the world of released music with his first offering of new material since his Six Degrees release Salvage in 2000. Salvage gave the world the most stunning, off beat, and infamous take on Scarborough Fair ever recorded, as attested to by BBC Radio 3's Mixing It. As ever, Tom Green finds his inspiration through nature on the title track of the EP. What would you expect of a Dorset boy, matured in Brixton, and gardening for real on a windy South London hill? Chasing Tornados is a classic slice of ambient sound styling, expertly laden with characteristically delicate jazz-infused piano lines, thumb piano, and a hypnotic dub-inspired bass line.

The career connections become clearer once you realise that Tom Green has worked with The Orb, Baka Beyond, Hyperborea and spent a few years touring with Abdul TJ’s African Culture (hence the lasting preference for polyrhythms).

In the last few years he has written and recorded the album MRI Scanner Music, which is installed in St Mary’s Children’s Hospital in Bristol, where it is designed to calm and distract children who are having MRI Scans, as well completing various TV commissions for Channel 4 and Irish TV station RTE (Eire). He has also set up anotherfinelabel, which re-issued the classic another fine day debut album Life Before Land in 2005, and is currently working on an album of new material.
